Greetings from Amsterdam!
So, Daan and I have been living here for over a week now, and little by little, we're getting to know Amsterdam and its cozy streets. Amsterdam really is a beautiful, vibrant city. I find it difficult to navigate, because almost every street has a canal, which makes them all look alike.
Daan and I arrived on the 30th of January. We unpacked our stuff and decorated the appartment, as you can see in the pictures. The following three days, I engaged in an introduction weekend for international students. I took part in several activities and met lots of nice people from all over the world. One of them is a guy named Vince, he's from Montréal and takes reaaaally nice pictures. Take a look at them here.
On Sunday, Daan and I went to a market, with various things like food, clothing, decoration, a music band and even a hairdresser. It was not that wow actually, but it was fun. Unfortunately, it started raining heavily so we went home and watched the whole season 1 of Girls (which you have to see!).
On Monday I had my first class of the minor Trendwatching at the HvA. God, it's so interesting. I think this really could be something for me. This international minor in Trendwatching is the only one in Europe, so I guess I'm lucky to have this great opportunity. I already have some assignments, but the topics are so interesting that it just doesn't seem like 'homework' you know?
Today, I had a job interview at Trouw of which I hope it went well. Trouw is a club/café/restaurant here in Amsterdam, famous for its parties 'til the sun rises - they just got a 24-hour permit. Daan also had two job interviews this week, so let's keep our fingers crossed! This weekend two friends of mine are coming over, so we'll visit lots of cool places - I didn't really have the time for it yet.
